Messages sent being considered as spam – general guidelines.

You can get more information about spam and abuse policy in Gmail in this HC article: https://support.google.com/a/answer/178266 . Please note that this is part of the Google Workspace Acceptable Use Policy ( https://workspace.google.com/intl/en/terms/use_policy.html ) to which every customer agrees on signing.

Please bear in mind that there are different reasons for messages to be considered spam/phishing, including being reported as spam by other users, having a lot of addresses in either CC or BCC, and containing suspicious or unsafe links, etcetera.

Please bear in mind that not adhering to the guidelines above (https://support.google.com/a/answer/178266) could result, among other things, in lowering your domain’s reputation («over time, many spam reports can lower your domain’s reputation» ─see more information in https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126), users being suspended, etc.

In this regard, it is important to avoid sending emails that recipients could consider spam, sending emails with lots of addresses in CC or BCC, and checking that the links sent are safe. The latter can be checked, for example, by introducing the links you are going to send by email in our Transparency report tool[1].

Furthermore, for users in your domain being part of Google Workspace, to aid domain administrators to review their domain reputation reports and tracking how their messages are treated when sent to Gmail accounts, Google offers Postmaster Tools[2]. Do note that the use of this tool is not included in the Google Workspace scope of support.

For more details regarding ‘Postmaster Tools’ please follow this Help Center Article [3].

It’s important to point out that most of the Postmaster Tools dashboards will only display data when there’s a sizable daily volume of email traffic (up to the order of hundreds) coming from your Authentication Domains and/or certain other conditions, in place to prevent abuse. To show data, some of the dashboards, like Spam Rate and Feedback Loop, need your emails to be authenticated by DKIM. Please refer to this Help Center Article for frequently asked questions regarding ‘Postmaster Tools’ [4].
